"In 15 years in this sport of herding I have had the pleasure of attending numerous clinics and lesson sessions from great handlers whose success indicates their talent for training and handling dogs. However .... the ability to do, does not guarantee the ability to teach.
My experience with Vergil is that he has the demonstrated talent to train, trial and teach. His teaching sessions demonstrate his ability to quickly diagnose problems and suggest solutions that the handler, regardless of level, can proceed to work effectively with their dog.... Vergil communicates his vast knowledge of dog training in a very understandable way. He also is an excellent judge of people as well as dogs and adjusts his appraisal and recommendations for dog and handler in a manner that person can or should absorb. In addition to his teaching skills Vergil has a true interest in seeing his students succeed. At trials he always takes time to watch their performance and follow up with constructive appraisal of what he observed. In addition it is apparent from being around Vergil that he has genuine affection for the dogs, which really is a most important quality of a good teacher in this sport."
